ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Corning baseball star Ben Terwilliger continues to add to his already impressive resume.
Terwilliger competed in the 2024 Frontier League All-Star Game in Quebec, Canada Wednesday night as a member of the Florence Y’Alls. The relief pitcher threw one inning of work for the West Division squad in the team’s 2-1 win over the East. It was the 31st All-Star Game in Frontier League history.
Terwilliger faced a total of four batters, walked one and generated three groundouts against the East. Terwilliger, 25, was named Closer of The Week earlier this summer by Florence based on his outstanding performance at pitcher. This season, Terwilliger has racked up four saves with 24 strikeouts in 22 2/3 innings of work in relief. Overall, Terwilliger has a (2-2) record and a 3.57 ERA.
Florence (23-33) is next in action Friday night at Lake Erie (37-20). The first pitch is slated for 7:05 PM. The Y’Alls currently sit in sixth place in the West, Lake Erie is in second.
The Frontier League is an independent Major League Baseball (MLB) affiliated league. Terwilliger, the Corning High School graduate, exceled at Barry and East Carolina University in college. Terwilliger then played for the Lincoln Salt Dogs in the American Association of Professional Baseball League (AAPB) last season before coming to Florence in 2024.
