FLORENCE, KY - The Florence Y’alls are honored to announce that Hank Zeisler has been awarded Player of the Week (7/28-8/2) by the Frontier League. Zeisler is the first Y’all to win weekly honors this season.
The Captain of the Florence Y’alls was unstoppable in a 7-game homestand against the Joliet Slammers and Gateway Grizzlies. Zeisler went a remarkable 15-for-24 (.625 AVG) this week and racked up a whopping eight home runs, 19 RBIs, and 11 runs scored. Led by their Captain, the Y’alls won all seven games this week and are currently on an eight-game win streak.
Zeisler entered the week four home runs away (43) from breaking the all-time Franchise Home Run Record (46) and finished the week with 52. His heroics started in game one against Joliet on Tuesday when he launched two blasts in a 6-3 win. Zeisler earned his nickname, Captain Clutch, on Thursday with a walk-off three-run homer to sweep the Slammers out of Florence and tie the Franchise Record.
Riding in hot from the walk-off win, the Kentfield, CA native went unconscious in the weekend series against Gateway. After a 3-for-4 line on Friday night, Zeisler broke the Franchise Home Run record in his second at-bat on Saturday to tie the game. The three-time All-Star wasn’t done and broke the tie with a go-ahead two-run shot in the fifth.
The record-breaking feat summoned Mother Nature to send a tornado to Thomas More Stadium to try to cool off the Captain. While it did postpone game two of a doubleheader, Zeisler delivered his best performance on Sunday. In game one, Cap clobbered another two home runs to complement a 3-for-4 line in a 7-4 win. Gateway had seen enough and decided not to throw to him in game two, intentionally walking him in his first two plate appearances, which also caused him to break the Franchise Walk Record. With a 2-1 Florence lead in the bottom of the sixth, Zeisler led off the inning, and Gateway refused to put an insurance run on base to open the frame. On the very first pitch he saw, Zeisler lasered a solo shot into the Gateway bullpen to end his reign of terror.
Florence had seven All-Stars in the 2026 Frontier League Y’all Star Game, but Zeisler is the first Florence player to win weekly honors this season. He becomes the first Player of the Week representative since he last won it back in June of 2025.
Florence receives the off-day on Monday before heading east to open a six-game road trip against the Atlantic Conference. The Y’alls start with a three-game series versus the Sussex County Miners on Tuesday when LHP Jonaiker Villalobos takes the hill. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM ET.
