Washington, Pa. – The Florence Y’alls (32-46) scored the first three runs on the road at Wild Things Park. They failed to score again, losing to the Washington Wild Things (53-26) 7-3 on Tuesday.

Rodney Tennie came up with the bases loaded in the top of the second inning and delivered a two-run single to put Florence on the board first. Luis Pintor added the third Y’alls run in the third inning with an RBI double. From that point on, the Y’alls bats produced only three total hits, while watching Washington turn the tables.

The Wild Things responded immediately with two runs in the bottom of the third. Washington put a run across in five of the last six innings, never more than two runs in any frame. The consistent offense was too much for the Y’alls to handle. Every Wild Things starter either recorded a hit or an RBI in the game.

This series began with bittersweet overtones: on yesterday’s off day, the Y’alls traded Anthony Brocato, their best player to this point, to the Wild Things in exchange for a player to be named later. Brocato showed the Y’alls another productive performance, with a double and two RBI.

Florence’s pitching has kept them in most games over this recent slide, and tonight was no different. Jeremy Ovalle allowed four earned runs over 5.2 innings pitched. Karl Craigie pitched the final 2.1 innings and gave up only one run. Washington’s Hayden Pearce earns the win, with Ovalle getting the loss.

The Y’alls have now lost seven of their last eight games, as well as eight straight head-to-head against Washington. The two teams meet again tomorrow night at 6:05 p.m. Griffin Baker is Florence’s projected starter.
