Y’alls Ambush Jackals For 17 Runs in Series-Clinching Blowout

FLORENCE, KY – The Florence Y’alls (12-8), presented by Towne Properties, jumped on the New Jersey Jackals (8-11) for seven first-inning runs and never relented en route to a 17-3 series-clinching win at Thomas More Stadium.

New Jersey starting pitcher John Baker struggled from the outset and toiled through a difficult rain delay-marred first inning. In the first, the Y’alls scored seven runs on seven hits and two New Jersey errors. Second baseman Harrison DiNicola, third baseman Brian Fuentes, and shortstop Jeremiah Burks all added RBI singles as the Y’alls put eight straight runners on base. 12 Florence hitters came to the plate in the first inning.

Florence added another run in the second when right fielder Ray Zuberer smacked his third home run of the year. With the score 8-0, the rout was on at Thomas More Stadium. New Jersey scored two runs in the top of the third when shortstop Ti’Quan Forbes homered and first baseman Alex Toral singled in second baseman Nilo Rijo, but the Jackals never came any closer on the night.

Ahead 8-2, the Y’alls went back to work on offense. Florence scored three in the fourth on a solo homer from designated hitter Brennan Price and a two-RBI single from Jeremiah Burks. A five-run fifth inning followed, punctuated by Ray Zuberer’s second home run of the day – a grand slam that put the Y’alls ahead 16-2.

Florence righthander Edgar Martinez posted a quality start, allowing three earned runs through six innings and striking out seven. A relief duo of righthander Tommy Siemer and righthander Carter Poiry closed out a dominant 17-3 Y’alls victory.

Florence has now clinched the series against New Jersey and outscored the Jackals 30-5 through two games. Game 3 of the series is set for Sunday, June 4th at Thomas More Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 1:07 p.m. ET.
