Florence, Ky. – With the bases loaded in the bottom of the tenth inning, Bryant Flete singled through the right side to deliver a 2-1 victory for the Florence Y’alls (29-37) over the Schaumburg Boomers (34-31) at Thomas More Stadium on Tuesday.

Flete, who scored extra-inning ghost-runner Alberti Chavez, drove in both Y’alls runs in the win. Furthermore, both runs were unearned against the Boomers’ pitchers.

Flete’s first RBI came with a bruise: the first baseman got hit by a Jumpei Akanuma pitch with the bases loaded in the fourth inning. He is a stellar 4-for-5 with the bases loaded this season.

Schaumburg scored the first run of the game, a William Salas single in the top of the fourth against Jonaiker Villalobos. In his 14th start of the season, Villalobos allowed just the one run inn 5.2 innings. He struck out seven batters and walked only one.

The pitchers’ duel turned into a bullpen duel at the finish, with the Y’alls using five relievers to combine for 4.1 scoreless frames and just two hits over that span. Cameron Pferrer, who dealt a scoreless tenth inning, earns the win. Schaumburg’s Darrell Thompson takes the loss.

It is the first win in five tries for the Y’alls against the Boomers this season. Four of those games have been decided by one run. Florence’s reliever-turned-starter Bobby Brabrand is scheduled to pitch tomorrow night against Schaumburg’s Blake Stelzer. First pitch at Thomas More Stadium is 6:31 p.m.
