August 21, 2022 Home Game

August 22, 2022

Florence, Ky. – The Florence Y’alls (33-50) expended a lot of energy on the road at Washington. Despite having home-field advantage, the Schaumburg Boomers (46-37) had the upper hand, winning 9-2 at Thomas More Stadium on Sunday.

The Y’alls scored in the first inning, with Ethan Stern being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Florence did not score again until Luis Pintor knocked an RBI double in the eighth. During that time, Schaumburg laid on a four-run fourth and a three-run fifth.

Price had the best outing of any Y’all, with two hits, a walk, and a run scored. Pintor now has three doubles over his last two games. Rodney Tennie picked up a double as well.

Great pitching backed the Boomers’ cause to secure the sweep. Shumpei Yoshikawa not only pitched eight innings with only two runs allowed, he at one point retired 17 consecutive Y’alls hitters. Florence’s Jeremy Ovalle labored through five innings with seven runs allowed, earning the loss.

Schaumburg’s three home runs led the way offensively, coming from Blake Grant-Parks, Mike Hart, and Blake Berry. The Y’alls, meanwhile, finish this home series without hitting a home run, the first time that has happened all season.

The Y’alls and Boomers finish their season series with Schaumburg winning eight out of ten games. Florence has two days off before hitting the road on Wednesday. The Y’alls take on the Grizzlies next in Sauget, Ill.
