Florence, Ky. – The Washington Wild Things (50-25) scored 12 runs in the first five innings on the way to a 12-4 victory over the Florence Y’alls (31-43) at Thomas More Stadium on Thursday.

The Wild Things jumped all over Y’alls starter Griffin Baker, who allowed all 12 runs Washington scored in the game. Baker labored through 4.1 innings and threw a season-high 120 pitches, taking his first loss of the season. Kent Klyman, Joe Dougherty, and Bryant Flete combined for a scoreless 4.2 innings in relief for the Y’alls.

Washington provided Daren Osby, who earned the win, a great deal of run support right away. The Wild Things scored in each of the first five innings, including a three-run first and a five-run fifth, to jump out to a 12-0 lead.

Florence countered with four runs late, including three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Brennan Price hit a two-RBI single, and Anthony Brocato followed with a sacrifice fly. Luis Pintor knocked a run-scoring double in the fifth as well.

The Y’alls have now been swept six times this season, twice by the Wild Things, who they will face next week on the road in Washington.

A series with Lake Erie in Avon, Ohio is next up for the Y’alls. Bobby Brabrand is Florence’s scheduled starter for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch tomorrow night.
